About

The China Guide Ready program is aimed at freelance tour guides, with or without experience. The program consists of four online learning modules: Market & Culture Ready, Trade Ready, Product Ready and Service Ready. Together, these modules build your understanding of your role as a guide and include: inbound China market trends, Chinese travellers' motivations and expectations, tour guiding business fundamentals and importantly how you can strive to deliver quality, bespoke tour guiding services that will create memories to last a lifetime.

China Guide Ready is an online, self-directed eLearning course.

Module 1 – Market & Culture Ready

Welcome to the introduction, an overview of the program and the role of a tour guide for Chinese guests.

  • Examination of how Chinese travellers use technology to shape their travel experiences.


Module 2 – Product & Service Ready 

This module introduces the tourism ecosystem and the Chinese distribution system, explaining how these relate to the role of a tour guide.

  • Understanding the travel distribution system and its relevance to tour guides.
  • Business fundamentals for tour guides.
  • A breakdown of the Approved Destination Status (ADS) scheme, including your legal obligations and ethical compliance.

 Module 3 – Trade Ready 

A deep dive into one of the tour guide’s core functions—interpreting the destination. You'll develop essential knowledge about the 'product'—Australia—and learn how to deliver authentic and engaging commentary using storytelling techniques.
